The Ways to Wellness Project is about my personal ways to wellness. My healing journey has taken me from the traditional to the highly unconventional to everything in between. I haven’t got it all figured out, and not sure I ever will. Who does? But I have the “lived experience” of being sick and going to doctors and searching for answers and visiting alternative practitioners and using natural remedies. I firmly believe that health and wellness exists on a continuum and whether you are going to an MD, a naturopath, an energy healer, a tarot card reader or anything in between, that you are fundamentally searching for the same thing, which is healing.
Disease and illness signal a lack of balance in the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual bodies.
In my experience, most of the manifestations of discomfort that show up in my body, mind and emotions are reminders to not stray too far from the path or to get stuck for too long. Whatever seemingly negative signal stemming from my heart or my body is often serving the deeper purpose of waking me up to remember who I am. The ailments, malaise, pain, and irritation are reminders to get off the wrong path and find my way back to the right path. Sometimes I don’t know how or what to do and all I have is these unintelligible disease “messages,” this is when I have found healers *can* be helpful.
I have found so many healing modalities to point the way – whether they are allopathic, chemical, natural, mind-body, complementary, alternative, metaphysical or esoteric. So this blog is my exploration of what I have learned in my past 10+ years of suffering from various states of dis-ease (lack of ease) and my quest for true healing, which is always in process.
